I have long been drawn to Indian women as a subject. At first I was attracted to their difference, I think. The fold and fall of the sari, the vivid, mesmerizing colour combinations that we don’t see in the West. But what started out as observations of women going about their lives evolved into something much more meaningful to me - a narrative of the roles available to Indian women. Take Dipti from the first Indian Women series, splendid in a hot-pink sari, bearing her votive oil lamps. It’s her role to lay them at the entrance to a home and welcome the goddess of wealth – Lakshmi won't enter a dark home at Diwali. But bearing dipti gives her another role too. The tea-lights are lit to banish the shadows of ignorance. So she’s also woman as a standard bearer of enlightenment, lighting a path to knowledge.
Please note that works can only be collected when the exhibition ends on February 10th.

Delivery costs:
For most products, with the exception of contemporary gallery artwork, we currently offer free standard delivery on all UK orders over £100. Our other delivery costs are as follows:
UK – £4.95 per order
European Union – £15 per order
Rest of world (including non-EU European countries) £30 per order
Contemporary artwork Works can be collected from Watts Gallery, Compton, GU3 1DQ. We can arrange delivery however the cost will vary depending on the destination, size, weight and value of the artwork. Some works cannot be delivered due to their size or fragility. Pick-up - You can opt for ‘Local pick up’ to avoid paying delivery and to collect from Watts Gallery, Compton, GU3 1DQ
Duties, Tax and Service Charges
If your delivery address is not within the United Kingdom, you may be subject to import duties, taxes and delivery service charges, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. You will need to pay any additional charges for customs clearance. Please note that your country’s customs office may also apply a small administration fee to each delivery.
