"Born in Staffordshire, I studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and then printmaking at the Royal College of Art and l’école des beaux art, Paris. I have been making prints for forty years. Recent key exhibitions include RA Summer Exhibition in 2011/13/18, National Original Print Exhibition in 2015/16/17/18, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2017/18/19/20/21, The Discerning Eye, Various Masters of Printmaking exhibitions and open exhibitions around the world. After living in London for 20 years, I now spend a large part of each year in my house and studio in Cadiz, southern Spain.
How I work
In my work I explore a range of subjects that are familiar and strive to find something new and
interesting to say about them. I take an instinctive and emotional approach, and strive to make art works that are delicate and shows a lightness of touch along with an eye for detail and nuance. A love of narrative, character, landscape and atmosphere provide the springboard for many of my themes, and I use traditional processes, techniques and materials at the printmaker’s hand to interpret these ideas. I try to bring to my prints an integrity that will last and mature over the years, and take the viewer on a similar journey of their own.
What I love about night
Night time, other worldly shadows and darkness and mystery. What is there not to like about that!"
