Susan O'Byrne is a ceramicist. She grew up in Cork, Ireland and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland in 1999. Following a subsequent postgraduate diploma in ceramics, she worked as a ceramics tutor at Edinburgh College of Art, Scotland and as a community educator which had a distinct influence on her own work. In 2003, she established her practice at Glasgow Ceramics Studio, Scotland.

O’Byrne has received several awards for her work, including the Craft Potters Association Charitable Trust Fund Award and most recently, the Archie Bray Foundation’s (US) Sage scholarship, Rudy Audio development grant and the Richard Coley Award for Sculpture at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. O’Byrne’s practice is now based between Glasgow and Ireland. She exhibits widely, with exhibitions at Contemporary Applied Arts; Ruthin Craft Centre, Wales; National Craft Gallery of Ireland; Bluecoat Display Centre, Liverpool; Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Wolverhampton and Keramikmuseum, Westerwald Hesse, Germany. She has also held solo exhibitions at Galerie Marianne Heller, Heidelberg, Germany; The Harley Gallery, Nottingham and Galerie du Don, Averyron, France.
