I live and work in Greenwich. I am an elected member of Greenwich Printmakers and a committee member of The Printmakers Council. I trained at the Central School of Art & Design and at London University.
For many years I taught Ceramics, but printmaking is now my chosen medium. Landscapes,
seascapes and huge skies are favourite topics and I enjoy depicting the ever-changing effects of light and colour at different times of the day and as the seasons progress through the year. I depict what I see around me, and I draw on my deep memories of my rural upbringing, but sometimes it is just a glimpse from a train window that inspires my printmaking.
How I work
"My preferred print techniques are currently a combination of dry-point and mono-print. The mono-print element determines that each print is unique and I like the excitement of not knowing how each one will turn out I have also worked with etching and aquatint, and I have recently been experimenting with solar plate and imagined landscapes.
What I love about night
I love the moonlight and the moon-shadows that appear when the moon is nearly full. I have also always been excited to witness nocturnal creatures. Owls with their evocative call, are favourites, I have been particularly thrilled to see porcupines and wild boar in Italy, but I have not yet managed to depict them!"
