Anthony Theakston is a sculptor, who creates a range of works inspired by bird form and movement. He trained for a BA in ceramics followed by an MA at Cardiff College of Art where he focused on conceptual sculpture. Theakston went on to lecture for five years at Camberwell College of Art and the Royal College of Arts in London, whilst establishing himself as a studio ceramicist. Following a move to rural Lincolnshire to focus on his own practice, he initially made bird jugs and tea sets with a distinctive speckled glaze. After 30 years of exhibiting his ceramic works across the UK and internationally, he was encouraged to approach a foundry to create bronze limited editions of his ceramic sculptures. Over the last five years, Theakston has introduced outdoor monumental sculpture into his practice. Theakston’s works are held in many private and public collections, including the Agatha Christie collection now owned by the National Trust, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge and Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
